A rainy and wet evening seems to be the worst case scenario that could happen during this day. Well, it happens but that still never stops the friendly match from going on. Everybody came to give their all for this friendly and for most of them, it was their first time stepping into Dalat gymnasium and experiencing the intensity of the game much more better.
First up, it was Ztec's B team against Frontliners Trojans. There were many new faces in these two teams and I have to say that all of them tried their best in this match. I was indeed really proud of Ztec's B team as they performed extremely well in that match. For most of them, it was just their first time playing in a floorball match against other clubs. You can definitely see the tense in their face during the first period of the game. There were many chances for Ztec but first period and second period still ended with no goals from both team.
Third period came and everybody went to the court and gave their all. It was all worth it when the first goal came after a tap in from Kelvin after a assist from Darren. You could just see the excitement in all their faces when he scored the goal. Couldn't have been the "goal of the day" but "celebration of the day" definitely went to him. It was like winning the World Cup Finals for them.
That one goal advantage certainly boost up their confidence level and they played much better after that. Moy Qing Shuin then had a chance to score the second goal for Ztec.
Later on, Samuel Ong secured the win for Ztec when he scored the third goal moments before the match ends. It was a great game for them and the win goes to Ztec with a score of 3-0.
Then, the match between 8cers and Spartans. It could be the preview of next year's Penang Floorball League if 8cers were to be in Division One. As usual, Spartans did their famous yell before the game and that just fired them up. It seems to be "dejavu" once again for 8cers as Spartans drew the first blood halfway in the first period. But that didn't stop Ztec and our unsung hero, Ken Wye scored the equaliser which took the score line to 1-1. Ter Min then took the lead for Ztec after scoring a goal one on one against the kungfu goalie, Sharon. Our captain, Oliver scored another goal for Ztec and that put us in a much safer position with a 2 goals advantage. Spartans came back with another goal but Jun Wooi once again scored from a free hit to maintain the 2 goals advantage. The match was intense as there were many fouls called and even a few 2 minutes penalty were given. Kuan Yang then scored a superb free hit and Leonard couldn't stop it from going into the net. It was then 4-3 and and Nicky scored a goal that took the score line to 5-3. Once again, Kuan Yang did his trademark "death turn" and it went into the back of the net again. It was not the end as Oliver scored his second goal of the night after a shot into the top left corner. 6-4 it was and Ztec were looking to secure the win with a 2 goals advantage. But Spartans still did not gave up and managed to score 2 goals back to back in a minute. That certainly left Ztec devastated but we still never gave up to get an equaliser. Just 2 minutes before the game, Sherwynd was given a 2 minutes penalty for pushing and it was 5 Spartans players against 4 8cers players. It was the worst thing that could have happened but one of Spartans player was also given a 2 minutes penalty for jumping. So with just less than 2 minutes left in the clock, it was 4 on 4 but both team didn't managed to score a winning goal. We drew 6-6 with Spartans and both team deserved it. They played their best and showed true sportsmanship.
A big shout out to our goalie, Leonard for playing both matches as another goalie, Chun Han couldn't make it for the friendly. He did well on that night having to play both matches. Great job! Also, another shout out to the guys and girls from Ztec's B team. They did an awesome job and it was great success for them. For 8cers, all of them did good as well although they didn't managed to win the match. But win or lose or draw, it doesn't matter as both teams gave their best on that night. For the Ztec's B team it was surely a great start and a bright future ahead for them. Kudos to every Ztec players. We would like to thank all the people that make this friendly possible first and for most to Frontliners Floorball Club for the both matches. Also not forgetting the referees, Lin Ken and Uncle Sam. And to our supporters out there, we hope that you enjoy the match. 3 cheers for everybody! Hip hip hurray! We look forward to another friendly in the future against Frontliners and let's hope it won't be a worst case scenario again.
