Preparation For Div 1

Despite finishing 2nd in last year's Div 2 league, Ztec8cers has been promoted to Div 1 reason being the entrance of other new teams. 8cers would like to make an immediate impact in the league and do the best we can in the upcoming Division 1 league starting on the 16th of June. Games will be played every Tues and Thurs at Balik Pulau Indoor Stadium. 8cers will be registering 15 players for the league this year.

2009 Div 1 promises to be a much exciting league compare to last year as players has improve and also due to playing in a full size ring this year. 8cers would not find it easy this year as they will be up again reigning champions of Div 1, Contact Fireants and reigning champions of Div 2 Dalat Eagles. Other opponents are the fast and speedy Spartans, ever skillful Innebandy Co and the much physical and energetic Unihawks.

Ztec8cers hasn't been preparing much in training but had played a couple of matches as preparation for the league. Here are the results of the last 10 matches. 9 matches played and 1 pending.

20th April: Ztec8cers 24-4 Nomad FC (Friendly)
Nomad came down from Sabah for a tour and face Ztec as their first game with their full strength. Ztec8cers started strong but were a little weak in defence as some silly mistakes proved costly.

1st-2nd May: Labor Day Challenge
vs Dalat Eagles (win 5-0)
Best start in the history for 8cers in a tournament. Have a habit of starting badly but with this scoreline as the start, 8cers played pretty confidently throughout the tournament.

vs Ztec Phoenix (win 7-1)
Despite conceding the first goal, 8cers remained mentally strong to hit back 7 goals against their juniors.

vs Sparx (win 2-0)
With 2 experience players in the opposing team, 8cers were a little careful this time round. Satisfied with the scoreline. However could have been more if it was not for their goalie Lin Ken.

vs Subang Rascals (win 1-0)
Match of the day. With so much experience in both side. Pretty even game. However, Subang were unlucky to concede an own goal.

vs Saints (win 2-0)
With 8cers already through to the knockout as table leaders, they started playing Saints while the players trying out different playing positions. It did not work as the first period ended 0-0. Credit must be given to Saints as they defended very well!

Semi Final. vs Dalat Eagles (won 2-1)
Not as easy as Day 1. Eagles came out soaring in all directions. 8cers were through to the final after a heroic performance by their goalie #80 Choon Hun.

Final. vs Subang Rascals (lost 5-2)
8cers started rather slowly and after few defensive errors, we found ourself 3 goals down. Nevertheless, the boys gave their best and the silver medal is what they got. Good job boys!

May 16: 8cers vs Dalat Juniors (won 26-0)
Boys against Men. It was an average age of 23 against an average age of 14. Credit must be given to the juniors as they played their hearts out although against opponents much bigger than them.

June 10: 8cers vs Frontliners Spartans (won 13-2)
Final friendly match for 8cers. Started badly by conceding the first goal but manage to pick up as the game goes by. Bravo boys! Lets look forward for the Penang League now! Whooooosh!

Men vs Boys

The title sum up this report of Ztec's last friendly match against Dalat on 16th of May. A friendly had been planed between Jason and Ter Min which was actually for the Dalat young boys last match before thier summer break. Dalat, who had an average age of 13-14 years old players(maybe older due to some older boys joining in), expected to play a Ztec team from around the same age. However, after a miscommunication between the 2 two managers, Ztec had half their first team there plus a mixture of players from Ztec Phoenix and Ztec Grifins.

The Dalat boys were shocked to find out that they were playing against players who were double their size and some double their age. Therefore, Ztec decided to play a more tactical game rather than hit and run floorball. Ztec started out rather surprising as we played with six players on court due to our goalie being late. 8 minutes into the game, our goalie turn up.

At the end of the match the score was 26-0 (8-0, 11-0, 7-0) to Ztec. Nevertheless, credit must be given to the Dalat team as they played their heart out and pushed us to the limit. Ztec would also like to welcome #77 Jerm back from the States, not forgetting the referees Kuan Yang and Lin Ken and also Dalat's Manaher Jason. 3 Whooosshhh for everbody... 1..2 Whoooosh, 1..2 Whooosh, 1..2 Whoosh!!

2 DAYS OF SHEER EXCITEMENT !!

Hey people!! Its been some time since we updated the blog. But here it is, the ZTEC spirit is still alive!

This post is to update the the blog the recent labor day match held at Dalat. It was a long day, Going from morning and stretching till late evening. However, players from ZTEC, both Phoenix and 8cers, gave a 110% all the way without holding anything back. ZTEC is extremely proud of all its players as they played their hearts out as a TEAM and as a SINGLE UNIT despite having to play against each other in one match. This shows that no matter what obstacle falls before us we will face this challenge head on, full of energy, and passion for the game.

Although Phoenix did not make it to the semi's, we would like to make a SHOUT OUT and declare to everyone reading this blog that you people not only WOW-ed the managers and coaches of ZTEC, but also the people and the supporters as well. We could see the hunger and the wanting in the way the team played, and to the coaches that is more important than any sort of individual talent. YOU GUYS ROCK!!

As for 8CERS, we went up against a really tough opponent in the finals, and we stuck it out. Although emotions were riding high, and a few minor mistakes, 8CERS pulled through as a team, gaining the silver medal, whereby team Rascals from Selangor bagged the gold. Congratulations to Rascals and may we play against you again in the near future. 8CERS you guys played hard and played smart, and that is what we value in ZTEC. Keep training and holding the spirit of floorball as we gear up for DIVISION 1. We have 4 weeks left till we go through what can be considered the most gruelling test in floorball this year so make the most of this time.

We would now like thank and introduce 2 players from KL who played in the match stated above, Hafidz and Sjaiful. Thanks you two for making the match interesting and helping us with advice and support. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY OF ZTEC!! 1...2...WOOSH!!

Here are some pictures taken from Facebook by various sources. Whoever you are mucho gracias!
