Fight to the finish, everyone knows the saying, today, the people of Ztec lived it. We had a tough match today, starting off with a 2 minute penalty. The reason for that penalty was due to a problem with the Jersey of our Goalie. Apart from that, everything was fine, but due to a few unfortunate calls which were "questionable", we had a second two minute penalty, that was where all hell broke lose.
Ztec found the ball in the back of our own net.
The mental height of the team was jeopardized, to the extend that the team could not perform. We did what we could, but we still a goal down. Ztec needed to score, we needed the goal, we needed to do something. We tried and tried, but once again, as it always happens every year, the odds were against us. Calls were made by the referees which had not much meaning, or even the lack of calls in our favor. What should we do? The real question is, WHAT COULD WE DO? Nothing. All we could do was to just play our game. That seemed hard to do with the treatment we were getting, but nevertheless, we muddled through. Ztec was still struggling as we always do in the start of every game. This caused us yet another goal. Now we were far behind. Scoreline, 2-0, in favor of our opponents.
Then came a glimmer of hope. Then our coach, with the limited time and patience we had left, Daniel managed to bring the ball and place it past the keeper, giving us a goal and the much needed motivation and boost to our team. Unfortunately by the end of the 1th period, the scoreline was 2-1.
The horn blows, and the end of the period arrived.
The team made their way out to have a team talk, with much direction from Coach Jason Selva, we were ready to start the second period. Lots were said during the team talk, with lots of emotions running high. The face off is set, the whistle blows, hello 2nd period. In this period, Ztec had a tough time chasing back the goal we needed and with much duress, conceded yet another goal. Oh the agony, oh the frustration! With most of our players already being injured by tactics we would not mention here, we were drowning in aches and pains as if we were in a rugby match. At the end of the 2nd period, the scoreline was now 3-1. In favor of our opponents, once again.
Upon heading out to the court, we Ztec, kept our heads held high. Knowing that we would not stoop so low as to play in ways which would risk hurting our opponents. We knew all too well, that our goal was to prove ourselves on the scoreboard. That was the only thing that mattered. And once again, coming from behind, WE JUGGERNAUTS PLAYED OUR GAME! Talk about "bringing it", we brought, we tore it up and we ripped up the court in more ways than one. As an individual, we couldn't do much, but as a team we conquered all. Our team Captain scored the first goal in the 3rd and final period. Adrian "El Capitano" Koay, with amazing tactical play ups, took the shot that opened the floodgates of goals! We were astonished by the commitment of the players.By having that goal in, Daniel "The Belly" Cheah scored yet another one. The needed equalizer. Scoreline 3-3. Juggernauts were not satisfied with only a mere draw, we thirst for more. We WANTED more. And we ate our fill.
A free hit was given to Ztec.
The players took their spots. The ball placed, Daniel at the shot. He shoots towards the goal.the keeper dives to the right, upon seeing the keeper's reaction, Oliver "Black Retriever" Dominic places his stick out and diverts the ball in the form of a volley towards the left bottom of the net. THE GOAL WAS SCORED! The team rejoices! The game resumes and with a magnificent effort by the team, John "Concussion" Chia secured another point for Juggernauts giving us a reason to celebrate. And lastly, the final was scored by our very own Drew "The Black Boy" Steiert. Giving us a final scoreline of 6-3.
Coming from behind yet again.
It is obvious that we, Juggernauts, have much to learn. But the coaches and managers of Ztec would like to praise and acknowledge all of Ztec's players. You guys truly made us proud to be leading you. Looking forward to our next match. But till then, we train, we push, and we prepare. Floorball is not for the faint of heart, everyone of you Juggernauts have a purpose here. Use your skill for the betterment of the team.
Floorball is a calling, not a sport. You are meant to be floorball players. So play from your hearts and give it your all.
