Awakening of the Giants!!

Fight to the finish, everyone knows the saying, today, the people of Ztec lived it. We had a tough match today, starting off with a 2 minute penalty. The reason for that penalty was due to a problem with the Jersey of our Goalie. Apart from that, everything was fine, but due to a few unfortunate calls which were "questionable", we had a second two minute penalty, that was where all hell broke lose.

Ztec found the ball in the back of our own net.

The mental height of the team was jeopardized, to the extend that the team could not perform. We did what we could, but we still a goal down. Ztec needed to score, we needed the goal, we needed to do something. We tried and tried, but once again, as it always happens every year, the odds were against us. Calls were made by the referees which had not much meaning, or even the lack of calls in our favor. What should we do? The real question is, WHAT COULD WE DO? Nothing. All we could do was to just play our game. That seemed hard to do with the treatment we were getting, but nevertheless, we muddled through. Ztec was still struggling as we always do in the start of every game. This caused us yet another goal. Now we were far behind. Scoreline, 2-0, in favor of our opponents.

Then came a glimmer of hope. Then our coach, with the limited time and patience we had left, Daniel managed to bring the ball and place it past the keeper, giving us a goal and the much needed motivation and boost to our team. Unfortunately by the end of the 1th period, the scoreline was 2-1.

The horn blows, and the end of the period arrived.

The team made their way out to have a team talk, with much direction from Coach Jason Selva, we were ready to start the second period. Lots were said during the team talk, with lots of emotions running high. The face off is set, the whistle blows, hello 2nd period. In this period, Ztec had a tough time chasing back the goal we needed and with much duress, conceded yet another goal. Oh the agony, oh the frustration! With most of our players already being injured by tactics we would not mention here, we were drowning in aches and pains as if we were in a rugby match. At the end of the 2nd period, the scoreline was now 3-1. In favor of our opponents, once again.

Upon heading out to the court, we Ztec, kept our heads held high. Knowing that we would not stoop so low as to play in ways which would risk hurting our opponents. We knew all too well, that our goal was to prove ourselves on the scoreboard. That was the only thing that mattered. And once again, coming from behind, WE JUGGERNAUTS PLAYED OUR GAME! Talk about "bringing it", we brought, we tore it up and we ripped up the court in more ways than one. As an individual, we couldn't do much, but as a team we conquered all. Our team Captain scored the first goal in the 3rd and final period. Adrian "El Capitano" Koay, with amazing tactical play ups, took the shot that opened the floodgates of goals! We were astonished by the commitment of the players.By having that goal in, Daniel "The Belly" Cheah scored yet another one. The needed equalizer. Scoreline 3-3. Juggernauts were not satisfied with only a mere draw, we thirst for more. We WANTED more. And we ate our fill.

A free hit was given to Ztec.
The players took their spots. The ball placed, Daniel at the shot. He shoots towards the goal.the keeper dives to the right, upon seeing the keeper's reaction, Oliver "Black Retriever" Dominic places his stick out and diverts the ball in the form of a volley towards the left bottom of the net. THE GOAL WAS SCORED! The team rejoices! The game resumes and with a magnificent effort by the team, John "Concussion" Chia secured another point for Juggernauts giving us a reason to celebrate. And lastly, the final was scored by our very own Drew "The Black Boy" Steiert. Giving us a final scoreline of 6-3.
Coming from behind yet again.

It is obvious that we, Juggernauts, have much to learn. But the coaches and managers of Ztec would like to praise and acknowledge all of Ztec's players. You guys truly made us proud to be leading you. Looking forward to our next match. But till then, we train, we push, and we prepare. Floorball is not for the faint of heart, everyone of you Juggernauts have a purpose here. Use your skill for the betterment of the team.
Floorball is a calling, not a sport. You are meant to be floorball players. So play from your hearts and give it your all.

*Ztec would also like to specially thank Coach Jason and Jo-Wyee "Bieber-Boy" Loh for coaching and guiding us. You guys are awesome.!!
PLAY HARD, PLAY SMART, PLAY AS A TEAM! ZTEC.... 1....2..... WHOOSH!!!

Clear Your Minds, Free Yourself

For those of us who played in the recent Wave Challenge know of the ups and downs we had and what we had to go through. Many frustrations, upsets, and even discontentment, but we pressed on and pushed through. Sometimes, there are certain aspects that will hinder us from unleashing our full potential, many times it is something that we cannot overcome due to the simple fact that it is totally out of our control.

What we need to do now is to know that we are not the only ones who are going through this as many other teams are experiencing the same situation. But how do we solve this? What should we do? I tell you this....

We focus on that which is truly important...

We must not forget why we play Floorball. Why we train so hard, pushing ourselves to the limit point, why we do what we do. It is for the love of the game. Nothing else. Most of us play floorball because we love this sport. Some have made it into a money making establishment, or even a way to gain power and control. We do it because we love the sport. Right now, we will put Wave Challenge behind us and press on towards our main objective, and that is Division 1 League. We will not give people a reason to mock us, or to condemn us. We will hold our heads high and fight for what is truly ours. Our title.

Calm your hearts of anger and rage, but fan the fire of Floorball. I urge all of you, people of Ztec, search deep within your hearts and find the reason you play the sport. Find the passion that dwells deep within you and let it come out. Cause if you have the heart and passion for the game, I honestly tell you, nothing can stop you. That is the main thing we the coaches want to see, we want to see the passion of our players set free. Some people approached me asking, "how do you do it?". It's simple, we play from our hearts. We would literally pour our hearts into the game.

So, people of Ztec Juggernauts... If there is one thing i ask of you today, it is this. Clear your mind, free yourself. Free yourself of all the negatives and politics in Floorball. Just play the game and compete because you love it. Play the game because you feel happy playing. I myself, and many others, seniors and juniors alike, need to do this too. Go back to the beginning of when you first held a floorball stick, when you scored your first goal, when you enjoyed yourself so much that coming to training meant the world, and leaving after that was like leaving family. Brothers, sisters.

Ztec, we truly are proud of you.. Continue making us proud. Congrats to all who played during the Wave Challenge. We gave it all, we did our best, and we did it as a team. That is the only thing we require from you..

"Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships."

What's Next...?

Ztec Juniors had friendly match with Dalat Junior team last week. The match was an eye opener and a wake up call for most people.. We shall not go into details, but it all depends on how one looks at it. You could be really angry and frustrated at the game play, your teammates, or even your coach. But if you have the heart to improve, you will look at it as an opportunity to learn something new. We are not "Invisible". We have weaknesses just like every other team. Though at times we do not want to admit that we do have weaknesses, it is an actual fact that we do have them.

We need to learn...

It's time we threw out our "Star Mentality" attitude. It is time we came back down to Earth and stop being in the clouds.

Training At Its Peak...

When you feel tired, that is your mind trying to trick you. Your body always has extra to give. Do not be fooled by your mind..
- Coach Jason
Selva-

Last week, a glimmer of hope for Ztec Juggenauts sparkled. Throughout the trainings we've been having, something was missing, something really crucial and vital was just nowhere to be seen. What is that which I am speaking of? It is none other than the Fire Within. We've been playing, yes, training, yes. However my friends, that is not enough. That is never enough. We need that FIRE.

On the Sunday that just passed, we gathered at Dalat for training. It was an ordinary day, nothing special, nothing different. One thing stood apart from the rest of the trainings we've been having, something was clearly visible... On Sunday, the people of Ztec came "Prepared"... Ztec arrived early (most of them anyway), they were just talking, having a good time. As we were outside the gym gearing up, there was an excitement in the atmosphere, a spirit which made us just wanting to start, wanting to begin.. And begin we did.....

Coach Jason took the seniors and Coach Daniel took the Junior team. Most of us were wondering why the sudden switch. Then, we found out why. The cones were laid out, the scene is set... "CIRCUIT TIME"!!... 30 minutes of solid training, dribbling, sprinting and shooting. All basics but carried out in the toughest of forms. Our legs ached, our sides hurt but that did not matter at all. With the encouragement from all team members, we pushed on, even when we could barely lift our feet. The intensity and the level of enthusiasm on Sunday was like no other training we've had in a very long time. You could literally feel the rush and the drive in the players, hearing them cheer on those who thought they couldn't go on anymore. Upon hearing the chanting of their teammates, they pushed themselves, bringing their mental up and overcoming fatigue and even pain. THAT IS WHAT ZTEC IS ABOUT!!

Guys, you made us, the coaches, extremely proud of you.. And what's more, you made us proud to be donning the ZTEC Jersey.. The Jersey that makes others tremble. When we put on that Jersey, and run as a team, we make the very foundation shake. Why? Because we can!

WHO ARE WE??? WE ARE JUGGERNAUTS!!

Keep it up people.. Let's bring this attitude to every training from now on....
WHOOSH!!!

RISE OF THE JUGGERNAUTS!!

2010 held fond memories for many of us who are Ztec. The ups and downs, the tears, the sweat, and the blood shed. We were taught many lessons, given many opportunities and made to be better and stronger both as individuals and as a team. Many now are unclear as to where 2011 will lead us. There are changes already starting to happen in the team. Frankly, it is true when people say, change is scary, why do we need change? Can't we stay the same and do what we were already doing? Everything was good just the way it was, can we just NOT change anything? The answer to that, yes we can. But NO we won't.

Things were good, no doubt, but we as Ztec want to bring the best out of our team. We as Ztec want to see our players, grow not only in their game, but also as a whole, as an individual. Many think that Ztec is yet another "Floorball Club", I say to you today, that is NOT what Ztec is!! Ztec is YOU! Ztec is a family. We need to bring that back. No matter what background we're from, who we are, what conflict there is, IT DOESN'T MATTER! When you come onto that court amongst your fellow teammates, there you are in the midst of family. And family ALWAYS can be counted on. At one point in time, Ztec was at its prime, many of you who have been with us would know what I am talking about. There was a time that training never felt like training, it was more of a fellowship, a gathering of people, doing that which they loved doing.

What made Ztec so great? How did we achieve what we achieved? It wasn't on individual skills. Though that is important, it is NOT everything. You want to know the secret to Ztec's success? Here it is. Ztec succeeded because we played as ONE. Nothing more to it than that. Its really simple actually. We played as one and we had fun. There was a sense of intensity and motivation in the air. You could literally feel the adrenaline rushing out from its players. You can literally feel the Ztec Spirit flowing from the hearts of its members. And I dont just mean during a competition, no, I mean even during training sessions. And fellow members of Ztec, there's only one thing we want to make clear to you today. 2011, we ARE reigniting that flame. We are bringing that fire back. THE SPIRIT OF ZTEC SHALL LIVE ON ONCE AGAIN!!

After much deliberation, the coaches have selected a new name for Ztec. 2011 is a year of change, a year of new beginnings. And we, Ztec, begin this year with a whole new identity, a whole new image.

- The Juggernaut is said to be a large, overpowering destructive force that would take on anything that comes in its path, it knows NO fear, it knows NO pain. It also can be defined as a massive inexorable force, movement, or object that crushes whatever is in its path. It stops for no opponent and above all, the Juggernaut welcomes challenges.

My friends, Ztec is proud to present our new name. From now on, we will be called
"ZTEC JUGGERNAUTS"..
We will move as a single unit, we will flow with creativity, we will work together and we will play as one. New Ztec players learn this and learn it well, Seniors Ztec players, let's show this through our actions and our game. Let us show our young ones how we did it and what it means to play for Ztec.

This year we bring a whole new level to our game. We bring ourselves and our team to greater heights. Remember, what we expect is what we accomplish. If we expect small we accomplish small. So let us look to our own hearts first. Prepare yourselves.. Its about to get interesting.. Join us, and let us bring the Spirit of Ztec back!

ZTEC JUGGERNAUTS!! 1.... 2..... WHOOSH!!
